Back to the 2nd edition of the french event Mooc of the Year!

Mooc of the Year

Following the success of the 1st edition, the french event “Mooc of the Year” will return on 23 January 2018 in Paris.
The purpose? Rewarding innovative players in the Mooc sector! But also get together to discuss, with a round table on the
topic: "How eLearning accompanies the development of skills throughout one's life". Prestigious references led the discussions: Air France KLM, Mandarine Academy and ESSEC.

Mooc of the Year: Moocs in the spotlight for one evening

Moocs (Massive Open Online Courses) are open distance learning courses able to host a large number of participants. These collaborative and attractive trainings were launched in the early 2000s by American Universities such as Stanford or MIT. The first French Mooc appeared in 2012 with the Mooc of Télécom Bretagne and Centrale Nantes.

In 2017, the Moocs have continued to develop not only with the general public, but also with companies, replacing traditional elearning as they go along.
In France, 350 Moocs were released last year, almost 1 Mooc per day! They are, for the most part, accessible to the UK or other english native countries thanks to english subtitling.
Today
10,000 Moocs are available worldwide. They have different objectives: training, communication and recruitment.

Mooc of the Year prizes

This 2nd edition of Mooc of the Year was therefore aimed at rewarding the best initiatives. For this purpose, a jury composed of experts from the sector, academics and professionals in the field of corporate training were brought together.
GOBELINS, L'École de L'Image, has unanimously won the Mooc of the Year award for the Mooc "Réaliser des vidéos pro avec son smartphone" (Make pro video with your smartphone). GOBELINS is a school of visual communication and arts in Paris. This MOOC is
subtitled in French and English.

Moreover, there is an international aspect during this event, thanks to the prize “serial MOOCer”. It symbolizes the power of MOOCs to make knowledge accessible worldwide. The winner is Amos Daniel Michel who lives in Haiti. In the simple year, 2017, he was able to follow nearly 100 MOOCs dues to his simple internet connection. He obtained 88 certifications from several universities and schools all over the world! It’s a huge performance.

Authôt: official partner of the 2nd edition of Mooc of the Year

Authôt proudly participated in the Mooc of The Year party on Tuesday 23 January. We were present as a sponsor of this 2nd edition alongside Learning Tribes, or Mandarine Academy. Discover the interview of our CEO Olivier Fraysse, with english subtitles here.

This evening was a great opportunity to discuss about our video transcription and subtitling technology with professionals in the field.
Indeed, the issue of
digital accessibility is at the heart of the debate because it is essential to allow everyone to have access to Mooc's, especially the deaf and hard of hearing people. In addition, with the Internet, content is now shared internationally. Multilingual subtitles is the solution to make Mooc's visible worldwide.
Today Authôt count more than
450 customers throughout Europe. In particular Moocs platforms such as OpenClassrooms or INRIA.
Like them, make your Moocs available thanks to subtitling and our online plateforme: app.authot.com

We will gladly return to the 3rd edition of the Mooc of the Year!
