Live transcription and subtitling for the World Deaf Day

Authôt, technological partner of the “Deafness Fair” for the World Deaf Day!

We are proud to be partner of the Salon de la Surdité(Deafness Fair) in Belgium on September 23rd where we will taking care of the live transcribing and subtitling of all the conferences!
For its first edition, the “Salon de la Surdité” will take place on the occasion of the World Deaf Day and organized by the Fédération Francophone des Sourds de Belgique (the French-speaking Federation of the Deaf in Belgium). Workshops will be held throughout the day around 3 themes:

Technology, Employment and Culture.

Many solutions will be presented during this 1st edition for the World Deaf Day, in order to improve the daily lives of millions of deaf and hard of hearing people in Belgium and around the world. Indeed, even if it is impossible to have exact figures, there are about 70 million deaf people in the world, more than 1% of the world's population.

The “Salon de la Surdité” in Belgium is therefore an event not to be missed!

Authôt presents its live video transcription and subtitling service for the World Deaf Day

The online application app.authot.com allows you to transcribe and subtitle your videos in one click. Accessibility is an objective promoted during the World Deaf Day, and has to be respected in both France (law February 2005), UK (read this article) and Belgium, which ratified the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in July 2009.
As a result, Belgium commits itself to:

  • guarantee their rights;
  • take them into account in all policies and programs;
  • eliminate all forms of discrimination against them.

Since its creation in 2012, Authôt has demonstrated a strong desire to facilitate access to information for all. It is with this objective in mind that we have been a partner of the "11th European Digital Accessibility Forum: Digital for a more accessible culture" organised by the BrailleNet association in Paris last June.
Authôt also participated this year in the "La Brèche TV" project, which took place during the French election period. Our support for this association, concerned about digital accessibility for the deaf and hard of hearing, was made possible by offering captioning for their videos posted on YouTube and Facebook.
But Authôt is not limited to France, we are also present in the UK with Whitecoat and in Belgium, especially with the RTBF for the transcriptions of podcasts for their subscribers. Our partnership with this Deafness Fair in Belgium makes perfect sense for us!
